Integrative
APPROACH
EMDR, Somatic & IFS Therapy
An integrative approach to therapy that works with your experiences, your body, and the different parts of yourself.
Sometimes understanding why you feel the way you do isn't enough to change how you feel.
You may understand where your anxiety comes from, recognize patterns in your relationships, or know that experiences from childhood continue to affect you. And yet your body may still become overwhelmed, you may shut down during conflict, or certain situations may bring up reactions that feel much bigger than the present moment.
This is where therapy can move beyond insight alone.
My approach integrates EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you explore not only what has happened in your life, but how those experiences may continue to live within your emotions, nervous system, relationships, and internal world.
Rather than treating these approaches as separate techniques, I draw from each of them depending on what you need and what feels appropriate in the moment.
Coming home to ourselves means making space for the past, reconnecting with the body, and meeting each part of ourselves with curiosity and compassion

The Process
-

Connect & Understand
Creating safety and getting to know your story
We begin by slowing down and understanding what brings you to therapy, the experiences that have shaped you, and the patterns you may be noticing in your life and relationships. Together, we'll build a foundation of trust and identify what you hope to gain from our work.
-

Notice & Explore
Listening to your body and becoming curious about your parts
We'll begin noticing how emotions and experiences show up within your body, nervous system, and internal world. Rather than judging anxiety, shutting down, perfectionism, or other protective responses, we'll become curious about what they may be communicating and how they've learned to protect you.
-

Process & Integrate
Working with experiences that continue to impact the present
When you feel ready, EMDR can help us process memories, beliefs, emotions, and experiences that may still feel unresolved. Somatic awareness and parts work remain part of this process, helping us stay connected to your body and attentive to the parts of you that may need support along the way.
-

Reconnect & Move Forward
Creating more freedom in how you relate to yourself and others
As old experiences begin to carry less weight, we'll focus on bringing what you're discovering into your everyday life. The work becomes less about automatically reacting from old patterns and more about developing greater choice, connection, self-trust, and compassion for yourself and within your relationships.
How EMDR, Somatic Experiencing & IFS Work Together
I don't believe every person or every therapy session needs the same approach.
Sometimes our work may involve talking and making connections between your past and present.
Other times, we might slow down and notice what's happening in your body.
We may become curious about a part of you that feels anxious, angry, ashamed, guarded, or disconnected.
And when appropriate, we may use EMDR to help process experiences that continue to feel emotionally charged or unresolved.
EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and IFS give us different ways of accessing the same larger story.
Together, they allow therapy to include your thoughts and memories while also paying attention to your body, emotions, nervous system, and internal parts.
